Ayvalık Hagiasma Association (Ayvalık Ayazması Derneği) was established with the restoration of the Hagiasma in 2018. This civilian initiative works to preserve the artistic, spiritual, educational and industrial heritage of Ayvalık. It organises cultural events such as exhibitions, publishes books and educational materials, carries out advocacy work to preserve the city’s heritage for future generations and to promote dialogue between Turkey, Greece and other countries.

In 2017, Ayvalık Hagiasma Association (Ayvalık Ayazması Derneği) and Ayvalık Municipality enabled the restoration of the sanctuary with the expertise of archeologists Suzan and Özyiğit Ömer, and the financial support of generous donors. As a result of the restoration efforts, the Hagiasma was inaugurated in 2018.
